Speech – Continental Currency – and Book Signing

In this presentation, Marc covers the early history of currencies that were used to buy goods and services in the United States and how the U.S. dollar became the only legal tender. He divides the history into three periods.

One, the Continental dollar, and the other state currencies from 1775 to 1783. Two, the period between 1783 and the Coinage Act of 1792, and the creation of the U.S. dollar. Three, the 70 years in which not only the U.S. dollar, but four other currencies were legal tender until 1862.
