An Air Force Pilot’s Last Words

My father was a career Air Force officer and in WWII, he was issued a summer and winter leather flight jacket. The winter one was fleece lined and when my mother through both of them out one time when he was TDY, I thought a divorce was imminent! Anyway, when the Air Force began to re-issue leather flight jackets, my father bought one as soon as he could, found the right patches and wore it proudly. Here is the story of how that flight jacket was transferred two generations.

This another one of those stories that is on the ANA Grandpaw Pettibone chapter website. Enjoy.  http://gpsana.org/?p=2517
