The flippant answer is two – the school of life and the school of hard knocks. The honest answer is I don’t know other than get into a college and get into school organizations that require you to write, write and write some more. School papers are a good place to start as well as getting jobs as an intern at a magazine, newspaper, TV or radio station. Better yet would be a web site developer who produces the content for the site owner or an ad/PR/marketing communications agency. In any of these you will have to take a fair amount, but imperfect information and turn it into something that will get read.
AS for school courses, I would take courses that broaden your horizons. Traditional literature courses, particularly if they focus on the classics written by Shakespeare, Chaucer, Dumas, Poe, Dostevsky, Tolstoy, Kipling et al are good. Keep in mind you are reading them to learn how they developed characters and plots rather than understand all hidden meanings that they professor thinks that are there that are missed by all us common folk.

First, I went with Word Press because it was free and recommended by the person who created the web site for me. It is good enough for me, but may not be for everyone. My recommendation is that you have to look at what you are trying to accomplish. If blogging is the most important thing to you, then the package will be more important. to me, the most important thing was the look and feel of the web site along with the capabilities of the blogging pacakge.

Click on that and it will ask your your e-mail address. When you click on continue and finish, it will add you to my e-mail mailing list. I put out an e-mail about every two weeks telling folks what is new. I add a new blog entry about every three or four days…
